Description:
Parents are the first teacher of their child. Part of the incredible work of Head Start & Early Head Start is to support parents in this incredible journey to nurture and educate their young children and all of this comes from fostering an environment that creates supportive and loving interactions. How can Early Head Start & Head Start help with this?
The Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) has developed an approach to promoting the social and emotional development of infants and toddlers through the use of parent-child groups. Participants at this event will learn evidenced based practices that promote children’s social-emotional development and address challenging behaviors. Relationships, well-designed environments, and individualized interventions will support outcomes of supporting competences, confidence and mutual enjoyment.
Learner Objectives:
- Participants will be able to describe the PIWI model and philosophy.
- Participants will understand the importance of keeping the parent-child dyad at the center of everything we do.
- Participants will be able to describe how the components of the PIWI model work together in the implementation process.
- Participants will develop an action plan.
