  • Children's Campus gets ready to open in KCK

    When the Children’s Campus of Kansas City formally opens Tuesday, early childhood experts from across the world will be watching.

    Inside the three-story, $15.5 million building in downtown Kansas City, Kan., several social service groups will focus on at-risk children and their families. And while the nonprofit agencies will have different offices, they will hardly work in isolation.

  • Hundreds Rally for Early Ed. Funding
    The Kansas Promise Tour, sponsored by KAC, brought together state and local early childhood education professionals and supporters in a show of unity against the proposed cuts to the state’s Children Initiative Fund, which provides funding for programs such as preschool, Smart Start and Parents As Teachers. Last month, lawmakers in the Kansas House and Senate presented budget proposals that included cutting up to $12 million from the CIF.
